Our lawyers regularly advise on issues related to employment and immigration for both corporate and individual clients. 

The lawyers in this area of work advise clients who wish to seek citizenship or permanent residence in Singapore.  Where necessary, our lawyers prepare applications and submissions for the clients to the Immigration authorities.  Our lawyers are familiar with the different schemes for citizenship and permanent residency, and when required, liaise with the Economic Development Board on the various investment schemes for permanent residence. 

Our lawyers advise clients on the requirements for obtaining of employment passes, dependants’ passes, student passes, work permits, long stay passes, and social visit passes.

Our lawyers also advise business start-ups and entrepreneurs on the obtaining of special passes for entrepreneurs with an initial validity period of 2 years to facilitate the setting up of new businesses in Singapore, known as Entrepasses.

Where necessary, our lawyers work together with tax specialists to provide advice on various aspects of employment law, including tax advice for clients with foreign contracts of employment, advice on employment share option schemes, and pension and superannuation schemes.  Our lawyers advise on Central Provident Fund issues as well.  Our lawyers have advised on employee –related issues arising out of mergers, acquisitions and takeovers, as well as retrenchments.

Our lawyers also handle the contentious aspects of employment law.  Matters handled include wrongful dismissal claims, restraint of trade disputes, claims for breaches of fiduciary duties and duties of fidelity, claims involving breaches of confidentiality and trade secrets.  Our lawyers have also advised on disputes involving trade or employee unions, and collective agreements.
